9 Simple Wellness Tips for Healthy & Happy Living

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle might often feel like an impossible task that doesn't fit into everyday living. It's hard to work full-time, eat healthy, train for a marathon, create homemade green juice, spend time with family/partner, and meditate for an hour a day.

Of course, healthy living can include all of these aspects (if desired), but it does not have to be defined by spectacular displays of health and fitness.

9 Simple Wellness Tips for Healthy & Happy Living

So much of healthy living is made up of simple things we do on a daily basis—things that may not seem significant at the time, but when done consistently over time, add up to major results.
31 wellness suggestions for living a healthy and happy life.

Here are nine basic, straightforward ways to live a healthier, happier lifestyle that may be smoothly implemented into your daily life:

1. First thing in the morning, drink a glass of water.

Coffee is fantastic, but rehydrating with a full glass of water is the greatest way to start the day. Early morning hydration aids digestion, improves skin health, and boosts energy.

2. Use the stairwell

Taking the stairs instead of the elevator is an easy approach to increase your daily physical exercise. While you're doing it, it also tones and strengthens your legs and core.

3.Make half your platter veggies.

Make half your plate veggies at each meal to eat healthy and control portions. The vegetables are high in critical vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients that are beneficial to one's health and lifespan. They also help to promote digestion (aka keep you regular!) and keep you feeling fuller for longer because they're high in fiber.

4. Invest in a fitness tracker and keep track of your steps.

Using a fitness tracker to track your steps is an easy method to get adequate exercise each day. We try to walk 10,000 steps every day, which has both physical and emotional health benefits. A fitness tracker will also remind you to walk 250 steps every hour (another crucial health metric—see tip #9). The following are our top fitness tracker smartwatches for 2021.

5. Make the switch to non-toxic cleaning products.

Traditional cleaning products include hazardous chemicals that are bad for our health (and our kids' and pets'). Changing to healthier options is an easy approach to lessen your home's exposure to environmental contaminants. For a detailed list of recommendations and what to look for when choosing safer household cleaning products, see our Healthy Cleaning Guide.

6. Use non-toxic personal care and skincare products

Traditional skincare and personal care products, like cleaning products, are made with hazardous substances that we shouldn't let our bodies' largest organ absorb on a regular basis. Switch to non-toxic personal care and cosmetic items to reduce your toxic load on your body.

7. Get plenty of sunlight every day.

One of the most important elements for overall health is vitamin D, and one of our finest sources is sunlight. Aim for at least 30 minutes of sun exposure every day, especially in the afternoon and without sunscreen (read more about that here). You don't get much sun in the winter where you live? It may be good taking a vitamin D supplement or eating vitamin D-rich foods.

8. Bring houseplants into your home.

Houseplants help to purify your interior air (which, unfortunately, it definitely does! ), they're attractive, and studies show that they increase mood, creativity, and problem solving!

9. Work up a sweat every day

Every day, make an effort to sweat in some way, whether it's through jogging, riding, dancing, hot yoga, or any other physical activity you enjoy. More workout ideas, as well as tips and tactics for incorporating regular physical activity into your daily life and a downloadable fitness planner to help you remain on track, may be found in our Fitness Guide.
